THE STATE OF THE PILIT The Helen Pitt Gallery existed for five years as a committee-run project of the Student Society of E.C.C.A. The Society provided tunds for its operation and the main function of the Gallery was to serve students needs, with artists from s.isice the school accomodated occasionaliyv. With the re-location of the college to Granville Island the Pitt became a iess accessable address for students, and the Student Society ceased funding in September 1980. The Gallery has managed to survive by renting studio spaceand the display-area to young and. lesser know artists.
