Welcome to the debut issue of T’art.

Our aim is to provide a forum for the expres-
sion of individual viewpoints. We believe in
the relativity of all truths and their depen-
dence on one’s point of view for validation
and thus recognize the need for divergent
opinions. We do not embrace solipsism with
anarchy in mind but accept bias as a neces-
sary qualifier of all “facts”.

The commentaries held within these pages
deal with various aspects of life in and out of
this institution with which we hope one could
easily find at least one common link. No one
here claims an absolute hold on truth, but
assert the belief that all opinions are valid.
Whether they are pertinent, critical, irrelevant
or irreverent, all are honest attempts at re-
flecting one’s existence at Emily Carr.

To provide continuity within each issue, an
overall theme will dominate and to com-
memorate the birth-trauma of this first issue,
we have decided to bitch at the world.
