= aie ta In spite of the lowered cost of tickets, a profit of $39.40 was made, but this was not prized so highly as the spirit of the Beaux Arts Ball which prevailed. Our next important undertaking was the Christmas play, "Why the Chimes Rang," held in the Central School attic, whose cobwebs and rafters were of great scenic value, the setting being that of a woods- man's cottage. Four performances were given on December the nine- teenth, and the collections amounted to fifty-five dollars. After expenses had been defrayed, the remaining thirty-six dollars was given to the Santa Claus Fund. For the success of this undertaking we give great credit to the producer, Lucy Clegg, Marion Erb for her costuming, and Bert Binning for his professional lighting system. In between these more outstanding events we have tried to make our monthly meetings entertaining by concluding each with some form of amusement. The first meeting of the fall term welcomed the newcomers with an indoor track-meet. A short play, "Soaked in Seaweed," put on in the Scotch brogue, so well known to all of us, was highly amusing. A gay nineties fashion show brought to light a number of those sub- stantial creations that mother, to say nothing of father, used to wear. Of a more intellectual nature was the most interesting address, "Follow the Gleam," given by Miss A. B. Jamieson. To help increase our funds, not to mention the quenching of our love for a good time, two roller-skating sorties have been held for students and their friends, thereby adding to the treasury a little over five dollars...... Before closing, may |, with the very able committee who have done so much of the detail work, take this opportunity of thanking, first, our Honorary President, Director Scott, for his helpful suggestions and ever-ready aid, and, secondly, all those who have given their assistance so cheerfully. With our every good wishes for the coming year's work. Respectfully submitted, DOROTHY A. TISDALL.
