“FIVE YEAR PLAN: - STUDENT SOCIETY REPORT The responsibility of the Student Society in this college is two-fold; to represent the viewpoints of the student body as a whole, and to protect the rights and freedom of all the students therein. It Is with both these priorities in mind and with part- icular emphasis on the latter, that the Student Society of ECCAD must oppose the implimentation of the "Five Year Plan'' as it now exists. it must also be noted that the 'Plan' was prepared by the Admin- istration of the College and sent to Victoria for assessment with- out consultation with elther students or faculty. It is impossible, therefore, to adequately represent the best interests of the College as a whole and we feel that the inherent lack of protocol in this administrative decision serves to automatically place the motives of the Administration suspect in the eyes of the Student Society. The fact that there is no projected expansion or upgrading of the existing curriculum and present physical plant site of the College is an issue of major concern to the students. We must there- fore look at the Plan very closely to ascertain if it's implimen- tation would enhance our working environment or, indeed, act as a detriment to a situation already in need of improvement. If the existing curriculum was operating smoothly, with adequate space and funding, then there is little doubt that the impliment- ation of a 3-D Design course would serve to benifit the College. Unfortunately this is not the case; already, some of the course descriptions in the 'Plan' are deemed inacurate by the students : (cont...)
