This was prepared as the result of a meeting with Ron, Jeff Leese, and Michael Agrios. They felt the major problem was with processing power and speed of the computers to run the programs as well as monitor size and the availability of colour. It was suggested that software costs plus the cost per workstation needed to be included in the estimate. It was also recom- mended that a possible printer solution be one that could be used by all computers. It was also mentioned that Graphic Design will be back on the Granville Island campus. Rick Balabuck presented a brief on access of facilities at the get approval by the Associate Dean and the Design Division Faculty. This, of course, would need to be a school related project and could not be in conflict with what’s happening there. There is also the concern of funding, security and appropriate equipment use.(Not to use the digital midi sound system only as an audio mixdown system) It sounds a bit on the complicated side unless you’re doing a major project. There was a discussion of a possible computer instructors meeting. This would be to show student work, see what each other is doing, and hopefully pass on a more integrated and unified approach. Students may be invited. Also, the sharing of information by instructors is a good way of keeping in touch with what’s happening generally with computers.
