Applications are being reviewed in the following categories: music, drama, dance, kids performance, comedy, visual arts, literary arts, Taste of Seattle food vendors and Art Market and International Bazaar artisans. Applications are also available for coordinators of special projects, kids activities and special happenings. Applications can be picked = at the One Reel office in Seattle, located at 1000 Lenora Street, 7th Floor, Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Anyone living outside Seattle can request verbally by calling the Bumbershoot Hotline (206) 682-4-FUN. # # # Roon 8, Lecture Theatre: The wireless microphone system is now installed and ready to use. The system allows complete freedom to move around the stage and theatre seating areas while giv- ing a presentation or performance. If you are planning to use the lecture theatre and require audio reinforcement, the miniature lapel type microphone and small belt pack trans- mitter can be checked out from the AV Distribution Centre in room 219’B’. AV staff will provide a quick overview of the system to first time users. For your convenience we have included a small laser pointer in the microphone case. Please return the microphone and laser pointer to the AV Department at the end of your class. There is a second laser pointer that can be checked out for use in other pre- sentations. As indicated on the cases, do not point the laser light directly at the eyes. South Building Video Playback Systems There are two mobile VHS systems and one mobile 3/4” video system in the south building. One VHS and the 3/4” system are located on the 3rd floor just inside the main entrance to the Design Division. The other VHS is located on the 4th floor outside room 419. All systems are locked to the walls for security. The keys to remove the systems can be checked out from the AV Distribution Centre. When you are finished, return the system to its spot, lock it and return the key to AV ready for the next user. As well, there are VHS systems installed in rooms 306 and 419. Remote controls for all systems can be checked out from AV. Canon Bubble Jet Colour Copier in room 219’A’, (AV Resources). Maximum size 8.5”x11” colour copies can be produced from books or flat originals at a cost of $2 per copy. For~ convenience, the machine is caucsred with a coin-op box that acceris loons and is accessible any time the Institute is open.There are limited options available with the unit which makes it ideal for use in a self serve environment. Come by to view the samples, read the brief instruc- tions and drop in a couple of loons to produce your own. colour copy....you’ll be amazed.Watch for posters going up this week. Student, Staff & Faculty Photo ID Cards At long last we have our own in-house photo ID system. The AV Department will produce an identity card com- plete with the new Institute logo and barcode in a matter of minutes. Although this service is availble any time the AV Department is open, there may be a wait depending on how busy we are. As well, we will be set up to produce cards for the Part-time Studies students in room 219’A’ on Thursday, January 26 from 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. and Friday, January 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Anyone who requires barcode access to facili- ties in the south building or to pur- chase discount supplies at Opus Framing should have a card made. A new 3000 watt lighting kit is a wel- come addition to our lighting resources. The heavy duty Lowell DP-3 kit contains 3 focusing spot/flood heads with barn doors and stands. Additionally, 2 portable lite discs are avaialble. These are 40” diameter reflective white or silver sur- face discs used to direct or bounce light into the shadow areas of a scene. The discs can be folded to fit in a 12” pouch. Additions to the audio inventory include 6 sets of high quality head- phones and 10 new microphones There are 2 shotgun microphones designed with a narrow acceptance angle for long distance sound pickup as well as 6 uni-directional and 2 omni-directional mics for general sound recording requirements. For the Film/Video students we have ated as sdditional heavy duty Miller ‘yupoc wah metal legs for use with the 16mm film and 3/4” video gear, and through the efforts o; the Community Relations office we acquired, by donation, a mint condi- tion Canon 814XLS Super-8 camera.
