Students’ Union Executive From: Brad Campbell, A/President RE: 1996/1997 I had hoped to discuss the viability of implementing the following two proposals at the last all-student meeting: CURRICULUM EQUIPMENT FEE We are constantly struggling with inadequate budgets for the repair, maintenance, and replacement of curriculum equipment, before even considering buying new technology. An “equipment fee” that would be applied to every student would provide funding for the purchase of equipment that would help us to alleviate the pottlenecks caused by either breakdowns or the inadequate supply of equipment. A fee of $50 per semester would provide close to $80,000 which would be used only for the purchase of equipment for curriculum use. BUILDING HOURS In order to make better use of resources, I am proposing to close the building at midnight seven days a week for September/October and January/February. This would be offset by 24 hour access for the last 2-3 weeks of each semester with the interim time being our “regular” hours.
