thelastcall to all people who loved/liked me and the ones that hated/disliked me: this will be the first issue of the paper in two years without my major involvement. i feel relieved and light now. i can write and contribute and not carry all the responsibity/representation bag- gages on my shoulders. i can become one of those people who sits on the corner of playground and bitch about the players. ican even become apathetic and not care whether the paper comes out or not. and i don’t have to say hi to john werstchek anymore! i tried my best and i know many times i made mistakes like any other person who acts. because acting always carries the risk of making mistakes. it’s only in a state of spongey receptive passiveness that one doesn't make a mistake, if we don’t consider the passiveness itself as the biggest mistake. besides, now i’m at the end of my third year of studies and since i never got any academic acknowledgement for doing the paper, i need to concentrate on my works rather than the paper. i wanted to say thanks to the student body. thanks for providing me with the opportunity to producing a news- paper, a knowledge that is more important to me than anything else i learned in eccad. (thanks to the wonderful learning environment provided by our beloved administration and sometime teachers!). i also wants to wish the best for the new planeteers. thanks for their action to take over the paper because if it wasn’t for them, there wouldn’t be a paper for you to read. i hope they continue upgrading the quality of the paper so planet remains the most creative-critical school newspaper , as a lot of planet fans from other parts of the country put it. for people who didn’t know, planet is mailed to all schools across canada that are members of the canadian federa- tion of students and planet also recieves papers from other schools across the country. mohammad Edited by Earl Stefanyshen In the 1960’s the University of Toronto offered a very unique degree program. No thesis, no final exam, all you had to do was come up with a completely original thought and present it to the department of your choice. You would graduate if the faculty of the department hadn’t heard of your thought. This is what a friend of mine told me. Whether or not this story is true is of no big concern to me. I get a kick out of imaging what such a university would be like. It’s a neat idea. That’s the nature of all thoughts and ideas: their discovery is irresistibly intriguing. Even the bad ones are intriguing, though it may not seem so at first. The story about the UofT triggered a whole series of things in my imagination. I started to consider every aspect of that day when ideas would be presented. I imagined what it would be like to be a faculty member, excited about the prospect of hearing what has never been heard before. I put myself in the shoes of the speaker who would try to blow the socks off these omniscient scholars. I also experienced a domino effect, where the original idea multiplied into other inspirations. This story inspired this exposition. THINGK is opportunity for you to present your ideas. Any original ideas will be published in this forum.
