Art Reach is a program in which local artists are invited to submit works which will be displayed and then auctioned, with money going to the AIDS Vancouver Emergency Assistance Fund. This fund goes towards immediate needs, such as food and shelter. Ron Kearse, coordinator of Art Reach, says the reac- tion from artists, galleries, and general public alike has been very positive. Art Reach will benefit from a striking and high profile venue. With the support of the Chief Justices, the Great Hall of the Law Courts will be used for the show and auction. Kearse admits he is a total neophyte to this kind of thing. “The inspiration came from a trip | took down to Russian River (resort area north of San Francisco), and they’ve been doing: this for four years now.
