This legislation provides for student, faculty and staff representation on the Board and Education Council of Emily Carr Institute. The following positions must be filled under the new Act: The Board: 1 faculty representative (3 year term) 1 support staff representative (3 year term) 2 students (1 year terms) The Education Council 10 faculty (2 year terms) 2 support staff (2 year term) 4 students (1 year term) The Act requires that the Registrar conduct all elec- tions. The schedule for the elections will be as follows: Nominations Open Monday, January 30th Nominations Close at 4:00 pm sharp Wednesday, February 15 Elections Tuesday, February 28 & Wednesday, March 1 STUDENT FINANCIAL AWARDS TTALY PROGRAM 1 995 MAY 6 - JUNE 1, 1995 Financial awards are available for full-time ECIAD students to participate in the 1995 Italy Program. ECIAD hopes to provide two financial awards. INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKCAMPS A learn by living experience in international development he Canadian Federation of Students-Services, with funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Youth Pro- gramme, will offer 12 Canadian youths the opportunity to participate in a Costa Rican workcamp programme, through the Asociacion de Apoyo y Promocién de Ideas para el Desarrolla (APID}. APID is a non-governmental organization working to strengthen Costa Rican soci- ety through the provision of technical and ’ organizational assistance to a diverse network of social groups. Its primary fo- cus is to study and strengthen the role of youths in community development. APID will provide participants with an extensive orientation to the programme and to the culture and development issues faced by Costa Rica. A language training programme is included to help participants function in the host commu- nity. A 10 week workcamp programme will be organized in a local community followed by evaluations in San Jose and in Toronto. Participants will follow up with volunteer activities in Canada lo involve members of their local communities. All projects are managed by local APID staff in cooperation with a local commu- nity organization. While at the workcamp, participants will live and work with members of the host organization.
