Regret was expressed that there were not more Scholarships and
Prizes as the work of the past year merited the awarding of many more.

The Students’ work was on exhibition during the day and included
all branches of the work done during the year. Three of the classrooms
were used to house the exhibit and it was highly spoken of as to quantity
and quality, all being the work of first year students. In September part
of this collection was sent to the Vancouver Exhibition at Hastings Park
to represent. the Vancouver School of Decorative and Applied Arts.

IN THE ETCHING CLASS

Wise Men in the bath and stroke them with a feather... . Help me
pull a proof... . Gimme that blanket! . . . Where in Sam Hill’s that
ink? ... | knew it. Acid all over the chair, and no one with sense
enough to tell me. Now lookit these pants. . . .”

In THE DRAWING CLASS

“Who’s going to be the lucky fela to lend me a thumbtack? ....
Got any charcoal? ... Signed that register yetr . v. Got a sheet of
paper, anybody? ... Get inside that form, and push! ... Your line
is rotten... . Looks like a plan of a railway. ... Anybody got the
time? ... Get outa my way.... Hey, where you going with that
board? These monitors have been chosen, and it is up to the class to
support them. ... When you have finished the exam, hand in your
paper and pass out... .” j
