Amess COVER DESIGNED BY: Mary-Jane Kildall School of Art Student Body VOLUME ONE MARCH, 1935 NUMBER TWO EDITORIAL The first issue of the "Palette" is now "a thing of the past", If we are to believe all we hear, and we'd like to - it proved very creditable. It was encouraging to have the atten- tion of Vancouverites drawn to our first issue of the "Palette" by the Vancouver daily papers. Let's try to hold that interest. Again we'll have to appeal for support. We ask every student to take an inter- est in the paper. All contributions as well as criticisms, will be welcomed. Those suggestions already received from a few of the students have been - as much as possible - used, Know any scandal? Tell Frank Smith - Our eagle-eyed reporter is the soul of discretion. There is something in the air, maybe it's spring - that has added verveand impetus to the work of the students. Looking over some of the earliest pub- lications of the students of the Art School - we read that the goal of their magazine was - as it is now - a desire to express the school atmosphere and to forward interest in the «rt of B.C, We close on the note of the 1931 publi- cation - "The Art School IS - and WILL BE. And to what End?" FOUR HUNDRED WORDS FROM THE WISE Our editor is a very generous fellow. In his quest for master pieces of prose (?) he ran me to earth with his usual "Will you write something?" - Anything? The world is mine to talk about (in one colum)! Is our editor generous? 04 He's lavish! But, . what meaty morsel should I choose to chew upon, if it hasn't been chewed? "The Past and Hidden Life -of One. Mr. A", would certainly be a rather tasty sub- ject, although perhaps of a colour re= stricted to the "Palétte"! Then... i modestly deem myself an authority on "Twelve Good Reasons for NOT Building a Boat", This may not be as lusciousin flavour as the aforesaid subject, but - it's sadly informative! It also seems informative. that everything must have a reason for being done, whether a column, a school paper, a
