beauty in anatomical drawing
is achieved only by an intensive,
scientific study of the various
constructions and mechanisms
of the human body. Certain
facts enter into the functioning
of the body, just as in a piece
of machinery, the bone struc-
ture, the action of the elbows,
knees and limbs, the dynamics
and power caused by the con-
tractions and shortening of the
muscles. The eye must be
trained to see a rhythmic move-
ment not only of line, but of
masses, planes and form. The
consideration of these factors
and a knowledge of the mean
proportions are indispensable in
the rendering of a pleasing study.
