Certain facts enter into the functioning of the body, just as in a piece of machinery, the bone struc- ture, the action of the elbows, knees and limbs, the dynamics and power caused by the con- tractions and shortening of the muscles. The eye must be trained to see a rhythmic move- ment not only of line, but of masses, planes and form. The consideration of these factors and a knowledge of the mean proportions are indispensable in the rendering of a pleasing study.
