EVENTS Workshop Location: Foundation Area - Rm. 113 Please register in advance with John Wertschek, Room 113, in the Foundation area. ; Henry Elder (Educator, Architect) and Charles Brauner (Educator, Philosopher) will conduct a three day workshop at E.C.C.A.D. The workshop is entitled “Designing an En- vironment for Learning” and will pay particular attention to the question; “What is learning?” Thanks to a grant from the Student Society, there is no charge for participation. Participation is limited, however, to eighteen people from among the students, faculty and ad- ministration at E.C.C.A.D. Participants must come with an open mind and be committed for the entire time. The lecture on Monday morning and the critique on Wednesday after- noon are open to everyone. Dates: April21, 22, and 23, 1986 Times: Monday - 9:00 am — 11:00 pm Tuesday - 9:00 am — 11:00 pm Wednesday - 9:00am— 11:00pm PRIMA MATERIA: New photographic work from the Emily Carr College of Art and Design An exhibition of the work of the faculty and students from the Emily Carr College of Art and Design will be held from April 16th until May 7th, 1986 at Park Place, 666 Bur- rard St., Vancouver, B.C. The exhibition will encompass the entire 31st floor and the presentation will be in the form of photo-installations. The work on display will emphasize the sculptural pos- sibilities of the photograph and will embody the thematic and elemental concerns of prima materia, an alchemical term which means “first substance” or “first material” and which signifies the basic elements that together represent the composition of earth, fire, water and air. . The hours of the exhibition will be 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and there will be an opening re- ception (by invitation only) on Tuesday, April 15th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Travel Opportunity The (GHOST) Gallery is sponsoring an “Expedition to the Territory”. Late May departures. Four days, three nights.
