Planet of the Arts Volume 7 Issue5 page 17 Calling All Second Year Students MOBILITY PROGRAM 1. WHAT THE HECK IS IT? Mobility is an exchange program whereby ECCAD students may spend one semester of their third year at another college, then transfer back all the credits completed there and use them towards their Emily Carr di- oloma. This experience gives you exposure to new cities, cultures, and faculty viewpoints, and can be an in- valuable complement to your studies here at ECCAD. 2. TELL ME MORE For fall 92, you can choose from three other Canadian colleges and from five colleges in the United States. Canada Alberta College of Art (Calgary) Ontario College of Art [Toronto] Nova Scotia College of Art and Design [Halifax] U.S.A.: Corcoran School of Art [Washington, D.C.] Maryland Institute, College of Art [Baltimore] Memphis College of Art and Design Minneapollis College of Art and Design San Francisco Art Institute In addition, at this time we are selecting students for overseas placements next spring at the Cardiff Institute of Higher Education in Wales, and at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia. 3. LET'S TALK ABOUT MONEY OK. Tuition fees are paid to Emily Carr College before you leave for your semester away. This can be a great sav- ings, as paying American College tuition would probably cost you about $3800-5000 (U.S. Dollars, too). You are responsible for all other expenses incurred (transportation, accommodation, etc.). If you are travelling to the U.S.A. or abroad, you will need to show financial sufficiency in order to obtain the appropriate Study Visa. This means that you must be able to prove at the border that you have access to approximately $5000 to support yourself for the semester. There is no special scholarship funding available to cover these expenses. 4. I'M EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY - HOW DO | GET IN ON THE ACTION? Applications, and further information, are available from Fred Jacklin in Room 141. The application deadline is February 28. To apply you must have the support of two ECCAD instructors who have agreed to write a letter of recommendation for you.
