CONTRIBUTORS is Assistant Dean of Design at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. He teaches communication design as well as kinetic typography and ebook design. His research interests have included the application of kinetic typography to live interactive performance. He is currently exploring the emerging media of ebook design. His educational background is in Communication Design (BFA, York University) and Industrial Design (MVA, University of Alberta). He previously owned his own design studio and taught at Ryerson University. is the Vice President Academic + Provost at Emily Carr. He served as the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at the Rhode Island School of Design from 2007- 2011, and as the Executive Director of the Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts from 1997-2007. He has led major initiatives and projects in areas of art and design research, industry/academic partnerships, international programs, public engagement, and innovative program and curriculum design. His most recent work explores social, organizational, and perceptual issues in the design of emerging media environments. is the Coordinator of Emily Carr’s Teaching and Learning Centre providing research, training and administrative support of faculty and staff with learning new technologies that are employed in the classroom, online publishing environments and their own research projects. is Emily Carr’s Associate Vice-President of Research and Industry Liaison. His academic training is in Physics, and he holds degrees from University of Victoria and McGill. Dr. Inkster is a serial entrepreneur, who has founded or acted in senior management positions in three Canadian advanced technology companies, both private and public. His companies have operated in diverse business areas, including remote sensing, marine acoustics, and fibre optics. He currently manages the Research Office, which involves developing new research programs and funding, the coop and intern programs at ECU, and supporting the Research Ethics Board. is a recent graduate of the Master of Applied Art (Visual Art) at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Her collaborative and interdisciplinary artworks have been hosted by public galleries, libraries, museums and arts councils in Canada and abroad. She is a Past President of VIVO Media Arts Centre Board of Directors in Vancouver. She is currently the Assistant to the Emily Carr University Research Ethics Board. is the Director of the Intersections Digital Studios research centre at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design. For many years she has been joining her love of Computing Science with her belief in the innovative potential of the arts. A circuitous route led her from obtaining her PhD in Computing Science at Simon Fraser University to leading the Visualization Lab at the Banff New Media Institute. She has had the joy of bringing to life many artist projects involving digital technology, and continues this practice at Emily Carr where the IDS provides an ample playground for experimentation.
