b OKT COUPLETS ABOUT: | A COUPLE NE beautiful morn, quite early in spring, (Too early even for birdies to sing), Two little girls in togs fit for hiking, Went forth to sketch some scenes to their liking. “7 For sustenance later, some raisins they had (For a filler the same aren’t really so bad!) And with outfit in place they set off to explore The far famed beauties of our wondrous North Shore. So tripping along they went up the trail, Carrying the raisins in a little tin pail— Said raisins suddenly—without any warning, The nice soily soil of the ground were adorning. Now sketching is hard when you feel you must eat, (Both artists knew this—their fruit under feet!) So they gathered and washed the raisins with glee, Glad things were going so beau-ti-fu-lly. At last they arrived at the place picked for sketching, So gorgeous it was for painting and etching— The river was rumbling so deeply below— While above raced the clouds; where to? I don’t know! Their sketches they sketched with great might and main. The sun? Oh, it shone! And there wasn’t some rain! The colors flew fast and the brushes as well, That they had real paintings they easily could tell. But what’s the use? When they reached home that night, Thinking their sketches the best things in sight— Someone in the house inquired of the pup, “Say, Bozo, please tell us which side is up!”’ VERA, ADA AND THEODORE.
