Murray Gudmundson Foundation Ea Oe Invitation for Consultation ee by Jean-Marie Michaud We have all beard something in the past few weeks about our controversial Five Year Plan; a draft document for discussion pre- pared by a committee of administrators appointed by the Dean. In response to the reaction that followed the presentation of the Plan, Mr. Hudson, who is also unsatisfied with the document, invited us to write down what are the changes we'd like to see... and meet him to talk about it. MANY SHARE THE OPINION THAT THIS OPEN INVITATION Many share the opinion that this open invitation -for- consulta- tion would have been more effective if it had been offered to the College community at an earlier stage (i.e. when the document was being prepared exclusively by the committee of administrators); for sure, alot of friction would have been avoided... maybe we wouldn't read in the Climate Committee's February Report that ''some administrators are seen as working in isolation from the faculty...'' The more an administration follows the guidance of its com- munity the more sense of a family is increased in it. “only things that accord in tone, vibrate together’ (Confuscius). It is important that we all share our views on the growth of our College. We build our world according to our understanding of it (think of all that is left out...). My concern is how we create our College V.S. how we let others create it for us. Either way, this environment will reflect on how we create... P.S.
