This Year’s Resource Workshop This is the fifth year of the Resource Work- shops, presented each Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. at 21 Water Street. A selected group of artists and designers from across the province, Canada and other parts of the world will be “borrowed” for the afternoon to talk about their work, ideas and to enter into dialogue with students. In the past Resource Workshops, this diverse group of professionals has included painters, sculptors, potters, film-video and _ television artists, performers, dancers, mime and movement artists, historians, scientists, critiques, illustra- tors, book, newspaper and magazine designers, art directors, poets, exhibition designers, museum directors and curators, print makers, photograph- ers, city planners, costume designers, landscape architects, art dealers, government art officials and others in order to stimulate discussion and interest in current, past and future art move- ments, trends and professions. The Resource Workshop visitors, this year, have been selected in conjunction with galleries, JACK SHADBOLT Mountain Summer No. 9 (end flight), 1977 acrylic, watercolour on paper museums, and other art schools in order to give students at the Emily Carr an opportunity to ask questions and talk informally with actual pro- fessionals. Plans for this year’s workshops include architects working on the new Emily Carr College of Art site on Granville Island; a visitor from Toronto’s new school “Art Sake’’; Eudorah Moore, Director of California Design; Glen Lewis of the Western Front; Jack Shadbolt, Vancouver painter; Frank Dudos, industrial designer and partner in the design office of Dudas Kuypers Rowan Ltd., Toronto. Gile de Bure, curator from the well known ‘Centre Pompidou’’ in Paris will share his experiences as curator; Andrzy Dudzinski, illustrator and book design- er from Warsaw, Poland, will visit along with Ursus Dix, from the Canadian Conservation Institute in Vancouver; Dolf Gatelli, professor of “Fantasy’’ from University of California Davies; curators from the Vancouver Art Gal- lery; a writer from Artscanada; a graphic design- er from Vogue Magazine; performer Pat Glesko URSUS DIX — Director, Canadian ‘Conservation Institute from New York; a dancer from the National Ballet, and others. The Resource Workshops will present thirty visitors. Most dates have been established; we still have a few openings.
