artists for survival By Chris Bradshaw The growing possibility of "limited nuclear war'' being waged on This planet presupposes the inevitability of global annihilation. The extent of Man's technology has placed us in the precarious position where it is now a very simple matter to eliminate all forms of life on the planets; 19 times over. As a result of this, the students of Emily Carr have formed a peace group, called ''ARTISTS FOR SURVIVAL’. The purpose of this group is to facilitate the education of people to the situation of nuclear warfare, and to lobby for bi-lateral disarmament of all nuclear weapons. Presently, we are working in affiliation with similar peace groups from surrounding colleges and univer- sities, in supporting and organizing the ‘'WALK FOR PEACE'' on April 24th, 1982 and the upcoming rally at_the Peace Arch on June 12th. ; ECCAD will have a contingent in the walk, complete with our own 'float' (a Dodge van donated by Patrick Stephenson and a decorated Ford Pinto from Pieter Kos). We are also printing T-shirts and buttons to sell at the march, in order to raise funding so that the group can continue in existance. The group meets reqularly on Thursdays at noon, in the Faculty lounge, to discuss our philosophy and share visual ideas. This week, we are all working on noster ideas, which we will discuss on Thursday. Also, there will be a meetina in the student lounge on Tuesday of this week at 7:90 p.m., in which representatives from the surrounding colleges wil] discuss the upcoming rally on April 24. In closing, may | remind you to take advantage of the information tahle we have provided in the Student Lounge, and incourage you to participate in this very important issue. See you Thursday!
