The purpose of this group is “To provide a forum for the discussion of issues pertaining to curricular applications of computers.” The membership includes head Librarian (chair) who is Ken Chamberlain, A/V Department Head who is Michael Agrios, two facility teaching courses who are Gary Lee-Nova and Rick Balabuck, System Administrator who is Roland Plessis, Administrator of Part Time Programs who is Isabel Spalding and two technical assistants, Ron Barron and Jeff Leese. The terms of reference as set out by this Sub-Committee are as follows: (1) To recommend to the Course and Program Committee of the PAC new courses using the computer; or new uses of the computer in existing programs. (2) To recommend changes in course content or in course relationships to the Course and Program Committee. (3) To recommend the purchase of equipment to the Capital Committee. (4) To recommend policies on the use of computers and studios to the PAC. (5) To convene at regular intervals over the College year meetings of all faculty and studio-assistants involved with the computers usedin College courses. The first meeting held Oct. 19, 1989 included a general discussion on the current computer curriculum. There was a motion by G. Lee-Nova, seconded by |. Spalding, “that all faculty who teach computer-related courses be requested to submit course outlines to the chair of the Computer Studies Sub-Committee by 13 November. The outlines may include a list of hardware now in use and projected needs, plus an indication of software requirements.” It is hoped that the course outline will touch base, with what is happening now with our present need’and give some insights as to future trends. Hopefully the course review of courses will give useful suggestions to both the Curriculum Committee and the Capital Committee. It was decided a meeting of those involved with the Macintosh would be held.
