It seems to me that too much emphasis is put on linear pro-
gression in an artists work; the emphasis is placed more on the
relative placement of an individual work in the context of an
artist's previous developments than on the specific merits of
the individual piece. This attitude can only serve to taint
the objectivity of the observer.

What we fail to realize is, that people are multi-faceted
beings; we all exist on many levels of existance simultaneously
and react to identical situations completely differently, dep-
ending on immediate circumstances.
