a few words from the editor This is just a note to say hello to our readership and to inform you of the changes taking place here at InFlux. As the new Managing Editor, | would like to move our publi- cation towards the level of being the leading arts publication in Vancouver. Chris Jones instigated some of these changes, so | just want to send out a thank you to him for the spark that started the fire. | would also like to thank the Managing Editor that preceded me, Alex Duff, without whom | would not have realized how deeply my passion runs to be involved in an arts publica- tion. | would also like to thank Geneviéve Clouthier, our Production Manager, for helping me keep my head on straight as | make the tran- sition into a Management Position. And, as these changes take place, /nFlux will change, taking upon it the imprint of yet another Managing Editor, another crew of writers, editors, artists, and another production staff. We are slowly making changes, working together to bring the reader an ever-improving publication. Our first move is a change in format. We have reduced the paper size in order to open the doors to a broader variety of layout options. By doing this we will hopefully be able to accom- modate the unique and innovative designs that our production team may come up with. A new design will slowly emerge, bringing a new look to InFlux, just in time for a new millennium. We have also decided to extract ECIAD specific news from the main body of the publica- tion and compile it as an insert that is included only in those papers that are distributed within the Institute. The theory behind this is that our readers will no longer have to wade through information that may be irrelevant to them. At the same time, the ECIAD students will be able to find everything they need to know about their school in one:section. This separation will also help /nFlux to broaden its voice, speaking to all of Vancouver and not just to art students. We hope that these changes will help to raise the profile and quality of /nFlux. Please let us know how we're doing.
