Doors open at noon and admis- sion is by ticket only. Tickets are available from Denise in Student Services. Due to space con- straints and the size of the graduating class, each grad will receive 3 tickets. If you think you will need more than that, we will make a waitlist and tickets will be divided among grads if there are any left over. Grad Show Opening Saturday, May 4th — 7:00 PM Everyone is welcome. No tickets are required. Invitations and posters will be ready for pick up and distribution around the week of April 22nd. Elections were held on March 26th and 27th , to find Student Representatives for the Board of Trustees and the Education Council. And guess what? Only 10% of full-time and part-time students voted! The Board of Governotss is the senior governing body of the Institute. It is made up of members appointed by the Ministry, the Chair of the Education Council, the President of the Institute and elected representa- tives from the faculty, support staff and the student body. The Board is responsible for the governance of the Institute. While it does not participate in the day to day administration, it establishes the governing structure and policy setting. It is also responsible for the maintenance of the financial integrity of the Institute and the development and approval of its bylaws. The evaluation of the President and the establishment of the mecha- nisms that monitor instruction also falls under the jurisdiction of the Board of Governors. The following students were elected to sit on the Board for a period of one year, from May 1, 1996 to April 30, 1997: Jen Eby (ECD 3) Linda Szasz (Studio 3) The Education Council is the senior committee in the Institute. It is made up of appointed Administrators and elected Representatives from the Faculty, Support Staff and the Student body. The purpose of the Education Council is to provide a framework for the order- ly development and resolution of academic policy by a broad representation of the ECIAD community after constructive discussion. The Education Council must advise the Board, and the Board must seek advice from the Education Council on the development of various educational policies. The following student representatives were appointed by acclamation to sit on the Education Council for a period of one year, from May 1, 1996 to April 30, 1997: Don Bury (Studio 3) Lore Schmidts (Studio 2) Nadia Myre (Studio 3) Paula Wellings (ECD 3) We Will Be Mailing Out | Registration Packages This July These packages contain course outlines and your registration priority number as well as registration times and dates. Please ensure that we have your cor- rect address for the summer!!! If you move..let us know! Change of Address forms are available at the Reception Desk. Student Loans For Next Year the 1996/97 8c student Assistance Program packages will be available from the Financial Awards Office on April 15th. In order to ensure that your student loan funds are available for the start of classes in September, it is advised that you apply prior to June 30th. Loan packages from other provinces are slowly beginning to arrive. A notice is posted outside of the Financial Awards Office indicating which province s applications are available. If you are a resident of another province for the purposes of student loans, please check the notice board regularly. It is advisable that all out-of-province applicants apply as early as possible. The Financial Awards Office will be open through most of the summer but if you need to see someone regarding your student loan application, it is advisable to phone ahead to book an appointment - the direct phone line is 844-3844. Scholarship Information: BC Cultural Fund Scholarship applications are expected to arrive around April 10th. Applications are available in the Financial Awards Office and the deadline for application is May 31st. ECIAD Tuition Scholarshi results will be posted on Monday, April 22nd. The student numbers of the successful recipients will be posted outside of the FA Office. A letter will also be sent to all scholarship nominees indicating whether a scholarship was awarded. If you are a scholar- ship nominee and you have changed your address since you applied for schol- arship consideration in February, please provide your new address to the Office as soon as possible. BFA Summer Credit If you re planning to work on the acade- mic component of your BFA this summer, you can pick up information on the required courses from Jane Robinson-Bond. If you are planning to attend a University, you may need a letter of permission. Jane can provide the letter, but she will be on leave from June 15th - August 15th.
