es — : See UA aaa. Marr Sellars AIR Marr> Who are you? JB> | am one of the 5 billion human beings on earth. My name is JB Dunckel. I’m doing many things in the studio where we print some musique and the musique is going into some big record shops and so the record are sold and |’m there to say that our music is good. Nicholas: | am one of the spiritual entities that surround mother earth and | am here to spy the human being to find a way to dominate this planet. I’m Nicholas. M> You guys are from France and | was wondering whether you felt a connection to Canada because we're bilingual and French is one of our official languages? N> Ah. no, because we do not feel French anymore. We are not big in France so we have no reason to be big in Canada. M> You don’t feel French anymore? Why not? N> Because we are artists and artists have no frontier. If you are a French artist it means you are just a clown, you are not “real”. | mean, if you are a painter or sculptor nobody tells you [that you are]. You are making a French painting so we’re not making French music. We are making some global art. I’m not saying it’s good or bad | just say we are making global art. M> Does France really have a President AND a Prime Minister? How does that work? JB> | understand that it’s one of the paradoxes of the fifth Republic. You can have an O-division [?] in politics between the President and the Prime Minister and this very good because these 2 different guy[s] have to make some compromise[s] and that’s good. But in fact we are not into politics we are [into] a-politics. We don’t like politics and we are not part of any political party or religion. We are just dreamers. We are just artists and we have no pretension to change or rule the world. We are just expressing ourselves. M> The band was involved with the soundtrack to the Virgin Suicides. Are you going to do anymore soundtracks? Is that something you’re interested in? N> Yes, We have to find a good movie, which is hard because you have to give your answer before the movie's shot. We want to find new people. Sophia Cappella was young and it was her first movie. We like this kind of profile. We like to make this new experience and we want to avoid working with something that’s already been done. M> Everyone talks about how your new album is much darker than your old stuff. Does it bother you that people say that? JB> In fact we don’t think that it is darker. | think that sometimes you have effectively some darker moments but | think our new album is more extreme - some parts are much more funny then the last album and some others [parts] are much more dark. It's more everything. The first Air albums were always more in the same tone, always in the same mood, but now this last album is a complete story. You have some very different moments and plenty of surprising events. It’s more like a dream or a journey. The travel is beginning in our imagination and so we want to push further our imagination and to build some very beautiful, strange landscapes. ‘i> | heard you were the shy one but you are actually doing most of the talking in this interview, what’s with that? JB> | don’t know. [It's] Because | like to speak to girls. M> What's your advice for the kids? JB> Don’t listen to your parents. No, | don’t know. | have nothing to say maybe just: find your own way. N> Have a very strong sexual life. Make love to a lot of people because it’s very cool. M> It’s cool to have sex? N> Yes, and it’s a good sensation. It’s pleasurable. Very extreme, especially when you are young the bodies are cooler then when you are old. It’s a better sensation. [But] be very careful before choosing what will be your regular boyfriend or girlfriend. M> Or when you get married? N> Yeah.<>
