8) FANCY Delight, In my net of gold thread Oh, is Has And But Far And And have I caught a star? light fallen from the sky sparkles there afar. no, Lady Moon has stooped swept it all away SO I have my gold thread left But not one single ray. - Rowena McNair PINTUS Indians - Pintus - dressed in Cotton print mauve and bluen They wore sashes of scarlet With daggers slipped thru' Black ribbons round their white sombreros (Some embroidered with a horse shoe) Their eyes were great big flashing blue ones Their teeth gleamed white as they did smile They rode spirited ponies that fiesta day Those dark Indians we met on our way. One sport that they were playing at Was wrestling with the bull We joined the group of Pintus there All crowded aroundthe fenced in. square And watched the fun. J. Pintu grabbed the young bull's horns And climbed up: upon it's back The bull kicked and reared until Of course the Pintu had a spill. The next Pintu was quick to seize The horns and fame aspire, But ere he won - something went wrong Quite three of them were wrestling too And talking quick like fire And one drew out his dagger But nothing happened. - Jessamy Carey "Behind the Palette" (Concluded) However to get back to the present sit- vation, it is nearing the end of the winter term, infact there are just about two months more to go -- and nothing donc, except a little more paint and crotonne worn from the common room furniture. The only consolation we have is that we are nearly all in the same boat - But even that doesn't seem to affect the teachers much when they are giving us a. well-earned (?) mark in the - hold on tight - exams, So after two years of experience with said exams we would like to issue a warning to all the first andsecond year students and even to the fourth year, if they care to listen. That warning is that it is time to start get ting caught up on our unfinished work and showing the staff that we really do mean business, part of tho time;~ —at—.... least. So for the next couple of months we hope to find the common room empty except at our regular intermission periods, and here's for a period of hard work and good results. With best regards from "In Front of the Palette" NOW WE'LL ASK YOU SOME! Why do people insist on decorating the walls and windows, etc. with their names and phone numbers? Why, when there's coffee at noon, there's no sugar and milk; and when there's sugar and milk there's no cof- fee? Who smokes the most cigarettes in one week and who pays for them? Which student is the champion “borrower" and "forget-toereturner"? Is "Eddie" related to the famous match factory people? My don't the students with a dozen smocks ever wear one of their own?
