Dear Editors: IT am getting sick and tired of people complaining about the quality of education at ECCAD and the need for "reorgan- ization of the: foundation department. [f it's mot a gripe about the kinds or contents of courses, it's one about the failure of the administration to cooperate. Many hours of my class time in this school already have been spent listening to (and participating in sometimes) discussions about the marking systems, school administration (always about how awful it is) and yet very few of the people who complain the most seem to do anything about their beefs. Probably because they know the "problems" they complain about are largely imaginary. If they were serious about learning they wouldn't have the time nor the need to bitch about our facilities and. faculty.:In fact; kL’ ve observed that. .somevof the worst complainers are the ones who consistantly turn up in class without having done their homework. I think it boils down to a matter of being afraid to WORK and being un- able to discipline and educate themselves. This is not grade school or even high school; students should not have to be led by the hand and I'm glad the administration recog- | nizes this. . It is my job as a student here by my own choice to learn trom each instructor what’ he or she has ‘to teach mes. F' can't expect to have instructors tailored to all my personal needs; that would require a teacher for every student for every course! It is the administration's job to administrate. I did mot come here, to do their jobs, and lotrust that “forthe most part they have our best interests in mind. Certainly they make mistakes, as all human beings do, but they ahve a knack for learning from their mistakes. I've seen a number of improvements since September. We were all invited by Tom Hudson to imput into the decision making process. He is available for interviews and we have a responsible student government to represent our concerns. We have also been invited to attend their meetings. I feel it is time to get on with education and save the time and already scarce money for those expensive studies which won't help a bit if the students aren't willing to do their part in the learning process.
