This text is my reflection on this journey of exploring, study- ing, contemplating, learning and unlearning, in different layers and different voices. Metaphorically, it is in the shape of a palimpsest. The process of writing it consists of erasures and repetitions, similar to the way I work in the studio, and very similar to the way I live my everyday life. erase, repeat. Layers in both content and structure sit on top of each other, overlapping, hiding and revealing, creating a new meaning different from their individual purposes. These layers of my thesis are my attempts to narrate stories, reflections and thoughts about my artistic practice. They are arranged nomadically, similar to the way I organize my objects. Similar to the way I was raised. They (every section, every paragraph) do not have one title but instead several keywords, as I find giving titles a political action towards the text that limits, groups and simplifies. As indications of pauses, I have three Farsi characters. They are the marks of my literal movement through the text, from stories to theories, from theories to my practice, from my practice to stories, every time, no matter how many moves, I go back to the stories. This text is not about me, read it with me.
