I wrote this song last June on the piano, and when I read about QQ, it seemed so appropriate that I decided that I would submit it. It was and is literally my Asian Canadian experience with the COVID quarantine. I had to do some cutting and rearranging to fit the song under the 3 minute time limit, so this is the "radio edit". The original version is up on YouTube if you want to check it out ( https://youtu.be/cfC-LzRkqeg ). I feel so honoured to have been selected to join this group of Asian Canadian artists. It is their, and your, passion and creativity that bring us together as a community and an identity. Thank you for having a listen. |

Description / Synopsis
Born in Victoria, I've been playing music my whole life – piano and school band when I was younger, and then teaching myself guitar as a teenager and going out to play rock and/or roll music. Since then I've been in a few bands, the last one called The Unlevels. We put out three albums of which I am very proud (on YouTube and Spotify if you’re curious). To call music my hobby doesn’t reflect its full value in my life. I find music to be the most accessible way to validate emotions, to be inspired, to encapsulate a story or even just a piece of a story. It is amazing the volume of information that a song can communicate in those few moments. |
