Description / Synopsis
Charles Hoberman is both a trained sculptor and mechanical engineer, and both of these accredations come through in his body of work. His career has focused on self-transformable objects, playing with concepts of unfolding, expantion and contraction as a way to change and transform an object on all 3 dimentions. This particular object is from his toy series, many of which have become instant classics in the industry, such as the Hoberman Sphere. The genuis of the work lies in its intersection of art, science, design and mathematics, creating objects with numerous applications from large pavilions and shelters to toys you can buy at any store. |
