Description / Synopsis
Packaging is a powerful branding tool used to distinguish your product, which is especially important in the case of Tŷ Nant, a Welsh mineral water brand. In 1989, they unveiled a simple but classic cobalt blue glass bottle, which went on to win "First Glass" Award for Design Excellence and became their iconic look. Until 2001, when they wanted to expand the brand and grow to include other market sectors, this time choosing to work with PET instead of Glass, they hired iconic Welsh designer Ross Lovegrove. Lovegrove prototyped his design with foam models and the final shape is reminiscent of ripples on the surface of water. The bottle is made from blow-molded PET and in 2003 was ranked "8th coolest item in the world right now" by Arena Magazine. |
