'Unspoken Intentions' and 'the Rooted People Heard Me All the Same' is a composition demonstrating an intertwining of Coast Salish knowledge and western scientific evidence. The confluence of these two worldviews form the foundation of my art practice. I shift between the mediums of film photography and print making to visually represent my understanding of the importance honoring ancestral knowledge, three communities and interconnectedness. This paper also documents the journey through development of my thesis project 'Feet Deep in Wet Earth and Watery Pools', where I explored the relationship between water, root systems, lichen, and fungi – and how their unspoken agreements to work together, create healthy complex environments and how that complexity is an overlooked blessing to S’ólh Téméxw.
