Gamo, Miyuru

Being confined in a small apartment room, my footprint had become smaller and smaller. So did my artwork. My minuscule painting reflects the psychological and physical state of the creative process under lockdown. Fuzzy shapes float and multiply in uncertainty, yet the vibrant colours implying optimism. I was born and raised in Japan. When I came to Canada in the early nineties, I first landed in Toronto and then moved to Vancouver a few years later. Vancouver is a fascinating place where mountains and oceans meet and greyish urban setting in a lush green environment. Instinctively, my practice focus on exploring objects in nature with a realm of mechanical and artificial interpretations.
